I have been endlessly looking for big crayons for Ollie, something that would be easy to grip when he draws a picture. I saw this recently and thought it sounded like just the thing. I made a visit to the local charity store and picked up a bag of crayons for about 1 Euro, bargain.
I then broke them all up to look like this and put into cupcake cases mixing similar colours.
After spending very little time in the oven they melt like this; (be sure to keep an eye and don’t let them melt into just one boring colour!)
I put them back in the tin to finish cooling, it doesn’t take long. Don’t they look pwetty?
They look like little works of art all on their own.
Perfect for little (and not so little) hands! Artwork coming soon…..
How to;
Materials
- Muffin/cupcake tin
- Old broken crayons
- cupcake paper liners
Directions
- Line muffin tins with paper cupcake liners.
- Put several peeled crayons in the cups until they are about half full. You can mix colors or keep them separate.
- Preheat oven to 175c and put the tins in for about 10 minutes or until the crayons melt. Keep checking!!
- Remove and let cool before peeling off the paper.

Especially when you have lots of little bits of crayons, the kids don’t normally want to use those bits so you could save them up and make some melted ones!
